Red Bull Racing are leading the constructors' championship and Mattia Binotto believes this is due to the stability of the organisation compared to Mercedes. The Ferrari team boss is also on the case for Red Bull.

Red Bull Racing much more stable

Red Bull Racing has finally got it together this year. The RB16B is strong enough to challenge Mercedes on multiple tracks, and Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing are now even at the top of the driver and constructor standings. Binotto does have an idea where Red Bull won this one.

''They are reaping the benefits of the stability in the team. Despite difficult periods where they didn't win, they worked to make the car better and you can see the results of that now. At Mercedes, we've seen a lot of significant changes in recent years, with roles changed (James Allison) and the contract of a driver (Lewis Hamilton ) not being clear until February,'' Binotto said according to Motorsport.com.

Support from Ferrari

So according to Binotto, Mercedes seem somewhat distracted, and Red Bull have managed to take advantage of that. Mercedes are trying to weaken Red Bull and after Red Bull's rear wing and pit stops, are now also pointing at Honda's engine. Funnily enough, it is Binotto who defends Red Bull and Honda in this regard.

''I don't agree with what I am hearing because if we look at the GPS data it is the same performance that Honda had in Bahrain. They had to scale back power then due to reliability issues, but having solved that, they could now go back to the standard they had at the beginning of the year.''

So according to Binotto, there has been no step forward at all with Honda's new engine. ''There has been no step forward. That would not be allowed at all according to the rules," the Ferrari team boss concludes.
