Michael Masi slapped Max Verstappen on the wrist after he slowed down on the straight after crossing the finish line in the Styrian Grand Prix. Such burn-outs are illegal and the Red Bull Racing driver was warned that this was not the right thing to do. In the press conference, Verstappen says he understands the Formula 1 race director.

"Then next time I'll do a donut", Verstappen laughed according to De Telegraaf. The 23-year-old driver can understand the stand Masi gave him. "I thought it was funny and safe, but if it's not allowed, I won't do it anymore."

However, the world championship leader did want to say that he had correctly assessed the situation beforehand. "I had looked in the mirrors beforehand, but I understand the FIA's ban on burn-outs for safety reasons. In any case, I will not do it again," the Italian FormulaPassion him.

Verstappen managed to win three times before in Formula 1 at the Red Bull Ring circuit. Next weekend he will have the chance to add a fourth win to that and further extend his 18-point lead over Lewis Hamilton in the drivers' standings.
