Max Verstappen is looking forward to the British Grand Prix, mainly because the fans will return, but also because of the new format that Formula 1 will test. The Dutchman finds it interesting to have less time for testing.
Fans back and battle for the championship
"Having fans back will really make the difference at Silverstone and the British crowd love motorsport in general which means it is a special place to be," said Verstappen on the website of Honda. The Red Bull Racing driver wants to put on an exciting race for the fans that come to Silverstone.
Verstappen says Red Bull can't sit back just yet now that they have a lead in the championship. "It’s going to be really tight and a challenge for the rest of the year but that is what makes it exciting. There are some tough tracks coming up where Mercedes may have the edge on us but we have a great team and we are doing everything we can to try and stay ahead."
Verstappen finds new format interesting
Then there is the addition of sprint qualifying on Saturday. Verstappen says he is open to trying new things. "I quite like that we have a bit less practice before we head into qualifying, but let’s just wait, it’s difficult to say anything about it until we’ve tested it this weekend. Every race you take risks but controlled risks."
