Haas to stick with current drivers: 'Everything stays the way it is'
- GPblog.com
Although Haas always intended to have Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin in the car in 2022, there have been a lot of rumours lately that Schumacher might move to Alfa Romeo.
Everything will stay as it is
In England Haas team boss Guenther Steiner is asked about the rumours and the state of affairs concerning the contract negotiations. According to him, Schumacher will just drive at Haas next season. "The plan is that everything stays as it is this year," he replied to questions from the likes of Motorsport-Total.com.
Haas always considered this season a learning year for the two rookies so that the team could reap the benefits in 2022. According to Steiner, the rumours are therefore nothing more than rumours. "This is really Formula 1 again where something is playing up because someone once said something". So we will also see Schumacher in the Haas next season. "We still have to work out a few details, but otherwise everything is clear."
Schumacher not worried
So with negotiations still ongoing, it is still not one hundred percent certain that Schumacher will stay at Haas, but the German himself is not worried. "My focus at the moment is in the here and now. We are not even through the first half yet," he said. In the summer break, he will be concerned with the future. "I'm not worried about it."
