After all the commotion and dust that was blown up after the legendary clash between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen you would almost forget that prior to the Silverstone Grand Prix it was all about who will be the second driver for Mercedes next year. Russell qualified very strongly in England in eighth place, but fell back in the race. Bottas 'just' got back on the podium and didn't give too much trouble when Hamilton had to be passed. The game is still on the table.

During a video interview on RTL.de Mercedes' team boss Toto Wolff is asked once again about the big question: Russell or Bottas? "We tried to build George up from a young age. We saw that he was excellent in Formula 3, where he became champion straight away. In Formula 2 he did exactly the same after that."

"We have also seen that he often makes mistakes. Something that is normal when you are 22 years old. He certainly has the talent to become world champion, but you have to build that up patiently, and that's what we did. Now we have to wait and see what our decision will be."

So as we reported earlier it seems that Mercedes are already giving a hint about the decision they have made. What this decision will be will be announced sometime during the summer if we are to believe Wolff.
