Marko gives Pérez hope: 'In principle we want that'

Sergio Pérez is in his first season with Red Bull Racing. The Mexican driver's performance has been mixed and he must hope that the Austrians will continue with him next season. Judging by the words of Helmut Marko, this chance is real.
The past has proven that it is not easy to be a teammate of Max Verstappen. After Daniel Ricciardo left the team because of the attention for the Dutchman, Pierre Gasly and Alexander Albon both failed to come close to Verstappen's performance.
Pérez will have already noticed the difficulty of partnering the Dutchman this year. While the Mexican has performed excellently in some races, he has been quite disappointing in other Grands Prix. The result is that Pérez is currently in fifth place in the World Championship, nine points behind third place Lando Norris.
Team of Red Bull and AlphaTauri
The racing stable must make a decision in the coming weeks on how the teams of Red Bull and AlphaTauri will be shaped in 2022. Advisor Helmut Marko seems to be hinting to RTL that it will be the same drivers as this year. "In principle we want to maintain the existing pairings. But that takes time. We are taking into account all the relevant facts."
