The second day of the Hungarian Grand Prix is underway. Before Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen battle it out for pole position this afternoon, they first have to complete the third free practice.

Hamilton and Verstappen both complained about the grip on the track during the morning and afternoon sessions on Friday. Temperatures were so high on the track that the car's balance was sometimes compromised. Despite this, it looks like Mercedes and Red Bull Racing will be ready to start qualifying on Saturday afternoon.

Verstappen set first and third fastest times in the first two free practices, while Hamilton had to make do with third and second. Valtteri Bottas set the fastest time of the afternoon session, quieting the critics for the moment. For now, the question is whether Mercedes will place Bottas or George Russell alongside Hamilton next season.

AlphaTauri saw the second free practice session fall by the wayside. Yuki Tsunoda crashed hard into the wall in the morning session, causing his team to need hours to repair his car. He only participated in the afternoon session for the last two minutes.

Hungarian Grand Prix

This afternoon, Hamilton and Verstappen will battle it out for pole position. Friday's information told us that Bottas is also in the mix whilst Sergio Perez was around half a second down in the second practice session. If the Mexican fails to improve, he will struggle to offer Verstappen support in the Hungarian Grand Prix.
