Raikkonen on F1 future: 'I'm waiting to see what happens'
- GPblog.com
Kimi Raikkonen and a possible departure from Formula 1 remains a topic in the media every season. His future at Alfa Romeo is uncertain, but as we have come to expect from him he remains as relaxed as ever.
Antonio Giovinazzi's seat at Alfa Romeo is also in doubt, and so the team appear to have free choice for their drivers in 2022. Both drivers' contracts expire at the end of this year, and the team have already showed open interest in Valtteri Bottas.
Asked about his future Raikkonen said to Motorsport-Total.com: "I don't know, I mean I haven't really thought much about it yet and I'm waiting to see what happens. I'm not stressed about anything. We'll see what happens."
Not a great season for Raikkonen
The season so far hasn't been great for the Finn. "There have been no highs, only lows," Räikkönen commented soberly. "But that's where we are at the moment. At some tracks we can be tenth or ninth, but most of the time we just don't make it."
The Finnish driver has only scored points twice this season, in Baku and last weekend in Hungary, thanks to Sebastian Vettel's disqualification. At 41, Raikkonen is the oldest driver on the grid, but despite the team's poor performance he still seems to be enjoying himself.
