Albon impresses with victory: 'Not bad for my first year'

Alexander Albon secured a brilliant first win in the DTM championship on Sunday. The Red Bull driver, driving for the AlphaTauri AF Corse team, started from pole, and crowned that pole with victory. The Thai is happy to have finally adapted to the series.
A victory was exactly what Albon needed halfway through the DTM season. The Thai was given a chance by Red Bull to showcase his talent once again, after being pushed out of the F1 project. Until now, however, Albon has been trailing his younger teammate, Liam Lawson, who won the first race of the season.
Win for Albon
"This is a great day for the team and me. It took me a while to get into my rhythm in the DTM. In the beginning there was mainly a lack of experience. It's a bit surprising that I'm already winning", said Albon according to Speedweek.com. With this victory he climbs to fourth place in the standings, one place above his teammate Lawson.
While Albon will hope that good performances in the German championship will lead to a return to Formula 1, he is also just happy to win races again. "It takes some time, it's not an easy step from a Formula 1 to a GT3 car. It's not like I wasn't anywhere before the win. It's not going bad for my first year", concluded the former Toro Rosso and Red Bull Racing driver.
