Toto Wolff is looking forward to the second half of the 2021 season. The Mercedes team boss and his men have had three weeks to recharge for the next (hopefully) twelve Grands Prix. The battle with Red Bull Racing will continue unabated, starting with the weekend in Belgium.
"This has definitely been one of the most intense F1 seasons that I can remember, so far," Wolff said in Mercedes' preview. In any case, the top man is looking forward to getting back to work. "The battle is far from over and after a few weeks away from the track, we're all really excited to get back to work."
Wolff is aware of long road ahead
The battleground this week is the iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit. "We head to Spa-Francorchamps in a good position. We lead both Championships and the W12 feels in a better place after the upgrades introduced at Silverstone and an encouraging showing in Hungary. But we know there is a long road ahead and so much can still happen in this season of ups and downs," he continued.
Rainfall is expected for the full weekend for the time being. Mercedes is keeping in mind that they should be able to perform well in all conditions. "The weather is also notoriously unpredictable at Spa and always throws a curveball our way. With the Belgian Grand Prix always producing exciting and fun racing, it's the perfect place to start the second half of the season. Bring it on!"
