After the chaotic qualifying battle in rainy Spa, all that remains of the Belgian Grand Prix weekend is the all-important race. Although the weather conditions are still a mystery, one thing is for sure: the race starts at 14:00 UK time.

Max Verstappen secured his sixth pole position of the season with another rain racing masterclass. He was the only driver to beat George Russell's time in the dying moments of Q3.

Hamilton will start from the second row of the grid, amidst a generally messy day for Mercedes. The question remains as to whether the team will be able to sort things out before the start of the race, or whether they will be forced to watch Red Bull deliver a convincing first blow after the summer break.

Strategic wrangling

Although several teams have set their sights on a rainy race with conditions similar to qualifying, weather conditions on Sunday remain to be seen. This will also be the key to the strategic battle between title contenders Red Bull and Mercedes, as Mercedes have set up their race in a drier atmosphere than the competition.
