Gasly explains why the Zandvoort Circuit should suit him
- GPblog.com
Pierre Gasly is preparing for the first Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvorrt in Formula 1 since 1985, and believes he could have an advantage there with his AlphaTauri.
Gasly is having an excellent season for AlphaTauri in 2021. The Frenchman has become the leader of the team and has nothing to fear from Yuki Tsunoda. Especially in qualifying Pierre is very strong and that gives him the confidence to perform well in Zandvoort. There, the qualification will be crucial.
Good chance in Zandvoort
"It will be an interesting weekend. In some ways it will be a repeat of Monaco, as the straights are very short and the track itself is very narrow, so overtaking will be very difficult. That means qualifying will be particularly important and, as we seem to be performing quite well in that respect, that might work out well for us", Gasly said to Formula1.com.
Besides his own performance, Gasly is also looking forward to the whole atmosphere that will be there on the circuit, with of course all the fans for his former teammate Max Verstappen. "I think the whole weekend should be a great experience, as it is the first Dutch Grand Prix since Max is in Formula 1," the Frenchman concluded.
