The first day in Zandvoort turned out to be a great success. The city council is happy, there were no boos towards Hamilton and the drivers are enthusiastic about the circuit. Hamilton added a little bit more after the first day.

On Twitter he commented on the circuit and the fans. Like most drivers, he also liked the track and the atmosphere on Friday.

"Wow what a circuit and what a crowd! We had to stop due to a loss of power. We will work our way through this and hope for a better day tomorrow. Thanks to #teamlh for all the incredible support and also to the Dutch Orange fans for making the atmosphere electric today and for welcoming me."

Booing stays out for now

There was much discussion beforehand about how Hamilton would be received in the Netherlands. For now, as Hamilton himself confirms in this post, this seems to be going fine. When his car stopped during the second free practice, there were some cheers from the grandstands.

When the Brit passed the pits he was greeted with applause and Hamilton reacted in the same way. So for now it doesn't seem to be too bad, but the days where the pressure will be on are still to come.
