Since the Grand Prix at Zandvoort circuit, Max Verstappen is back in the lead in the official points count. Although the difference between the two is only three points, the supremacy of the Dutch racer is much more obvious in other statistics. For example, he has an enormous advantage over all his competitors in the number of race laps at P1.

So far in the 2021 season eight drivers have led a Grand Prix. Max Verstappen recorded by far the most laps; 485 over the course eleven races.

Defending champion Lewis Hamilton has led 128 laps in 2020, divided over eight Grands Prix. This huge difference is striking when you compare it to the three points that separate the two drivers in the title race, and perhaps speaks to the enormous luck that the Brit sometimes seems to have on his side.

Best of the rest

Following Hamilton is Esteban Ocon with 65 laps, Charles Leclerc with 50, Bottas with 27, and Perez with 26. Last but not least are Sebastian Vettel with four laps and Fernando Alonso with two.
