Full results FP1: Verstappen gives half a second to Hamilton
- GPblog.com
Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes have started the weekend in Monza well. The Briton won the first free practice session and did this with supremacy. Verstappen finished in second place, while Bottas had to settle for third.
Hamilton drove a 1.20.926 on the medium tyre, while Verstappen had to concede half a minute. This was however on the soft tyre, so Hamilton seems to have a fast pace. Bottas was one-tenth slower than the Dutchman.
There were no other noteworthy moments or incidents. There was a brief yellow flag, but that was all. Also, Aston Martin looked very fast during the session and ended on P4 and P6.
