Charles Leclerc had a difficult Grand Prix in Russia. The driver had to start from the back due to an engine change and was unlucky that it started to rain at the end of the race, which forced him to retire.

Although the teams knew that as well as Saturday morning rain might fall in Russia, the severity of the weather clearly surprised them. It resulted in a retirement for Charles Leclerc who couldn't manage to get his car through the corner. "I feel very bad," he told Ziggo Sport in an interview.

The Monegasque wanted to enter the pit lane earlier to change his tyres, but gave priority to his teammate Carlos Sainz. That decision proved not to be the right one for Leclerc. "At the moment it's a disaster, but something like that happens. I'll get over it," said Leclerc, who still finished in fifteenth place.

Leclerc versus Sainz

His teammate Carlos Sainz finished in third place, moving over Leclerc in the world championship. Where the Spaniard is on 112.5 points, Leclerc gained 8.5 points less.
