Hamilton thinks black Mercedes no longer necessary: "It was the silver arrows"

Mercedes introduced a new livery in 2020, and chose to make it entirely in black. That choice was motivated by Lewis Hamilton's anti-racism messages. The team chose to keep the black livery in 2021 as well, but Hamilton says he has no problems with a possible return of the silver livery.
Asked for his opinion on a possible return to the silver look, the World Champion says he has nothing against it. "I don't really have an opinion on it," he told Motorsport.com. "Originally it was the silver arrows."
Hamilton would welcome return to silver
"When I asked for the car to be black for symbolism last year, and what our future plans are in terms of diversity, I didn't expect it to stay for so long. It's great that we kept it for another season," he explained.
In fact, he would welcome a return to the Silver Arrow. "If it comes back that would be a nice change. It doesn't stop us from making changes internally, we continue to make a strong case for diversity," Hamilton said.
