Vettel to stay longer at Aston Martin? 'The team wants to be successful'

Sebastian Vettel will continue to drive for Aston Martin in 2022 and is not ruling out a longer involvement with the team. The German sees potential in Aston Martin and is keen to remain part of the project.
The Aston Martin name is back in Formula 1 in 2022 and for that the team chose four-time world champion Vettel, as the new figurehead. The partnership is still not quite what was expected of it, as after years of being 'best of the rest', the team lost the connection to McLaren and Ferrari in 2021. The team is seventh in the standings, even behind AlphaTauri.
Vettel remains positive
There is hope, however, as Aston Martin hopes to strike a blow with the new 2022 regulations. ''The team is growing and wants to be successful. We are really doing everything we can for it. How long it will take is of course difficult to say. In any case, the upcoming rule changes are very interesting'', says Vettel at F1insider.com.
How much Vettel likes next year will depend mostly on the performance of the car. However, Vettel and his team want to announce the next deal sooner. Now, rumours lingered around Vettel's spot for a long time. ''We will keep the talks earlier next year," team boss Otmar Szafnauer said about that.
