The Turkish Grand Prix once again had a lot of interesting moments. Lewis Hamilton was the main topic of conversation afterwards. The British driver lost his podium place because of a tyre change and was furious with his team afterwards. According to Auto, Motor und Sport another decision would have been better.

Although Hamilton was of the opinion that he did not need a pit stop, the practice seems to be different. The seven-time world champion ran the risk of his tyres blowing and his race being over. "If Hamilton had come in at the first command on lap 41, it would certainly have been enough for fourth place. Maybe even for the podium," notes the German medium.

Hamilton gets help from Bottas

Hamilton started the race from 11th position as he replaced his combustion engine. It meant he had to make up quite a bit of ground on his rival Max Verstappen. While Mercedes' top speed was a lot higher than Red Bull Racing's, Hamilton was unable to overtake the Dutchman.

Valtteri Bottas played an important role during the race. The Finn kept Verstappen behind him, preventing the Dutchman from gaining any more points. "Hamilton could thank teammate Bottas that Verstappen leads the World Championship by only six points. The Finn stole valuable metres from the Dutchman."
