Australian GP organiser not worried yet: 'On the calendar'

During the presentation of the 2022 calendar, the Australian Grand Prix was once again 'just' among the other 22 races. This was also the case in this season, but then the race was first moved to the end of the season and then it was cancelled altogether, due to the strict coronavirus policy in Australia.
Traditionally the Australian Grand Prix is the season opener, but in 2022 they will be the third country to host a Grand Prix. After Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, it is Melbourne's turn to host a race. However, there is still uncertainty there as foreign travellers currently still have to spend two weeks in quarantine to prevent any outbreaks.

However, Director of the Australian Grand Prix, Andrew Westacott, is not worried yet. "Melbourne is on the provisional calendar for 2022 and Formula One will make their long-awaited return to Albert Park in 2022," Westacott revealed to Wide World of Sports. To the same medium, the Australian government also reacted.
"We are fully committed to the Australian Grand Prix and with vaccination rates rising daily, we look forward to a successful race at Albert Park in 2022." In 2020, the Grand Prix was cancelled at the last minute when fans were already almost in the stands.
