Valtteri Bottas will move from Mercedes to Alfa Romeo next season. Whether the team will still be known as Alfa Romeo however remains to be seen. Sauber, the company behind the Alfa Romeo team might be taken over by Andretti Autosport.
Bottas knew nothing about possible takeover
The developments surrounding the possible takeover by the American motorsport company are probably free recent, as Bottas knew nothing about the possible sale of the team during his negotiations with the team. Even now, he is not really aware. "And to be honest I don’t know much details – if there’s actually a big chance of that happening or not," Bottas said at Autosport.com.
The Finn doesn't seem to be particularly worried about it either. "But I’m sure the people who will make the decision they will know what is going to be the best for the team in [the] long-term. And I don’t think I have much say in who owns the team and with how many percentage – that’s just how it goes, that’s the business side of Formula 1."
Bottas would rather have been in the know
The current number three in the championship does have to admit that he would have liked to have known about the plans for a takeover earlier. "Obviously, as a driver for the team in the future it would be before that nice to know a bit more about the plans for the future,” he said. However, he does welcome Andretti's arrival in Formula 1. "But yeah I mean, why not?"
