Ferrari expects to climb one position in Mexico
- GPblog.com
While Red Bull Racing and Mercedes have already disappeared on the horizon, Ferrari and McLaren are fighting a perhaps even closer battle for P3 in the Constructors' Championship. Ferrari will be hoping to give McLaren a good slap in the face in Mexico.
Binotto remains confident
The difference between the two teams is just 3.5 points. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz have been very consistent in their scores and are also very close to each other in the drivers' championship. McLaren scored several podiums with Lando Norris and even took a victory with Daniel Ricciardo.
Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto thinks that his team can clinch third place in the championship in Mexico. Motorsport.com quotes the Italian: "We drive there with maximum downforce and the engine power is less important."
Ferrari against Mercedes power
Ferrari normally has much to fear from the Mercedes power of the engines that are in the McLarens. In Mexico, that Mercedes strength won't make much difference. "There is still a gap to Mercedes, but I think the circuit in Mexico is in our favour," Binotto concludes.
Binotto thinks that after the United States Grand Prix it will be clear that Ferrari is the faster team of the two. The qualifying showed that, but also in the race in Austin, Ferrari seemed to be faster. And that while on paper McLaren had the faster car for the circuit.
