Next Mercedes engine change: Norris starts at the back of the grid in Mexico
- GPblog.com
There is no end to the engine changes for cars using a Mercedes engine. Lando Norris will start from the back of the grid for this weekend's Mexican Grand Prix.
It's also time for Lando Norris to replace the engine in the back of his McLaren MCL35M. The young Brit will take a completely new power unit for the Mexico Grand Prix. As a result he will have to start the race from the back as reported by Albert Fabrega on Twitter.
The McLaren man is not the only one getting a new engine in the back of his car this weekend. For Yuki Tsunoda and Lance Stroll it is also time for an engine change. The grid penalty for Norris means they move up another place, as the one with the last penalty will be at the back of the grid.
Golden opportunity for Ferrari
With the engine change for Norris, Ferrari can close the gap and maybe take the lead in the battle for third. The two teams are fighting a very close battle for third place in the Constructors' Championship. Both teams are only separated by 3.5 points, with McLaren currently holding the advantage.
Besides the current three drivers who have received a grid penalty, there were also rumor that Lewis Hamilton would go for an engine change. Those rumours have now been squashed, because according to Toto Wolff his driver will not put a new engine in his Mercedes, at least this weekend.
