Verstappen takes Senna's record away with victory in Mexico
- GPblog.com
Max Verstappen already broke quite a few records in his Formula 1 career and his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix added a new record to his name. The Dutchman now holds the record for the most wins in one season with a Honda engine.
Verstappen takes Senna's record
Verstappen's victory in Mexico means he has already won nine races this season and that is a record for Honda. The Red Bull Racing-driver thus breaks the record of none other than Ayrton Senna. The Brazilian driver won eight Grands Prix with his McLaren-Honda in 1988. It should be noted that Senna only had 16 races to do so in 1988, while Verstappen has already completed 18 races this season.
In total Senna won 30 races with a Honda engine between 1988 and 1992. That is in any case a record which Verstappen will not be able to break. The Dutchman has so far won 14 Grands Prix with a Honda engine, but Honda are leaving Formula 1 at the end of this season.
