Lewis Hamilton minimised the damage after his disqualification by driving an impressive race on Saturday. He will start the Brazilian Grand Prix from tenth on the grid, but will have to take into account the opportunistic midfield. Max Verstappen will have to deal with Valtteri Bottas, but will start from the front row of the grid.

The surprise of the day came in the form of Carlos Sainz, who finished third in the sprint race and qualified in that position for the main race. Sergio Perez was unable to overtake the Ferrari driver, but may be able to cover his teammate's rear from the second row of the grid.

Behind, it was Lando Norris who had a good day. The McLaren driver, celebrating his birthday, qualified fifth after a strong sprint race. Pierre Gasly started the day strong, but immediately lost places at the start of sprint qualifying and struggled to recover from that. He will start seventh.
