Lewis Hamilton expressed his dissatisfaction with the FIA after the qualifying session of the Qatar Grand Prix. According to the Brit, his competitor Max Verstappen deserved a penalty after the incident in Brazil, where the Dutchman pushed him off the track, according to Hamilton. Verstappen looks back on the conversation with the FIA positively.

The Red Bull driver believes it is essential that the organisation continues to listen to the drivers. "I think it’s always trying to align everyone in having the same process in the way you think," Verstappen stated in conversation with Motorsport.com. "Everyone is different, right? And everybody I think has their own way of racing and defending and overtaking, and of course it’s very hard for the FIA as well to, how do you say it? To get everyone on the same line."

Drivers ask for clarity

The decision did not only cause some question marks for Mercedes, also McLaren was surprised about the explanation of the FIA. The team boss saw how Lando Norris did receive a penalty earlier this season when he did roughly the same thing to Sergio Perez, which raises the question of how straightforward the race committee is.

"Of course, they decide but every driver has a different opinion," Verstappen commented. "And I think yesterday it was all about sharing their opinions, and then the FIA explaining their process of thought behind it."
