George Russell is on his farewell tour at Williams. After three seasons the young Briton is leaving the team for Mercedes. Instead of an internal battle with Lewis Hamilton, Russell is mainly hoping for a good collaboration to improve the Mercedes.

Working together is more important than fighting within the team

Russell will be seen alongside seven-time world champion Hamilton at Mercedes from 2022. The young Briton is hoping for a smooth collaboration with his upcoming teammate. "It's up to both of us to work together to improve the team and the car, with the common goal of correcting the weaknesses and perfecting the strengths," Russell revealed according to FormulaPassion.it.

Russell doesn't seem to have set his sights on a fierce battle with Hamilton within Mercedes just yet. He has mainly focused on the new regulations that will be in force from 2022.

Second time at Mercedes

The current Williams driver has already had a taste of the Mercedes when he replaced his future teammate at the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix. He did not do this without merit, as Russell would have had a good chance of winning that race if it weren't for bad luck with the pit stops and a puncture.
