Valtteri Bottas has admitted that he could be forced to make way for his teammate again before the 2018 season is over. The Finn was asked to let Lewis Hamilton through into the lead having controlled the Russian Grand Prix up to that point.

Bottas admitted that due to his position in the championship and being so far off of his teammate in the standings, the Mercedes pit wall might be asking him to support Hamilton again in the future.

"It could definitely happen again," Bottas admitted to media ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix.

"Yes (Mercedes have told me), and that is what I expect. I will be supporting Lewis. I just need to accept it and it is now the situation I am in because of everything that has happened earlier in the season. I can't fight any more for the championship.

"I am a team player and I am willing to help. It is what I do, and when it is time, and I am allowed to win, I will do it. But it doesn't mean that I am not a racer and I don't want to win. Winning is everything, but that time will come later."

The order for Bottas to make way for his teammate has divided many fans on the incident, with some citing Hamilton's already large advantage over title rival Sebastian Vettel however the team will likely want to clinch both championships as soon as possible, meaning team orders may come into play once again.
