Max Verstappen has been voted clear driver of the day by the GPblog audience. The Dutchman started on pole and went on to win in Suzuki. After a poor weekend in Singapore, this was the perfect way to bounce back for the reigning World Champion.
Verstappen had been dominant throughout the entire weekend, much at ease with his car which he had shown all season and the Japanese Grand Prix became another for his highlight reel as he dominated in great fashion from the front of the grid. This justified a huge 58% of the votes going to the Dutchman.
It was a special weekend for the Papaya team as Mclaren brought home a P2 and P3, Oscar Pisastri and Lando drove their hearts out in Japan. Perhaps they would've got more if Verstappen wasn't so dominant. Oscar Piastri received 15% of the votes for his P3. His first-ever podium in Formula One was shared with his teammate Lando Norris. Norris picked up 10% of the votes after a faultless weekend from the McLaren team.
Lewis Hamilton who turned a very poor start to the weekend into a good result as he picked up 8% of the votes, lastly another appearance for Liam Lawson as the rookie has been exceptional since stepping in for the injured Riccardo as the New Zealander picked up the final 4% of the votes.
