Formula One teams are preparing for the new season this month. The new regulations should increase the excitement in the new season. Mercedes is confident, as Andrew Shovlin tells us on Mercedes' YouTube channel.
The British engineer working for Mercedes are busy with the new regulations. The drivers will have to deal with a different type of car, which will take some getting used to for them to perform on the track. Nevertheless, Shovlin thinks that with the new rules, the FIA is moving in the right direction for the future of the sport.
The new cars should make it easier for drivers to overtake, which should make almost all Grands Prix exciting. Shovlin expects the rules to have an effect, but stresses that races like Monaco will still have few overtakes due to the difficulty of the track.
"That's quite unlikely," responds Shovlin, who expects that the teams will not show everything yet during the test days. "We’ll start to get a flavour for it in Barcelona, in Bahrain. But really, it will only be when the lights go out for that first race that we’ll know whether this project has been successful in that very specific regard."
