While Red Bull, Ferrari and Aston Martin seem to have it all together in Canada, Mercedes was very disappointing in the third free practice session. It was a wet session, and it looks like it won't be dry during qualifying either. For now, that does not seem to be a good sign for the German racing stable.

Everything was different in the second free practice: Hamilton set the fastest time in the 90-minute session, while teammate George Russell followed in second place, trailing by just 0.027 seconds. Verstappen and Perez seemed to be the mavericks of the top teams at the time, but in the third free practice session it was just the opposite. Verstappen finished first, and the rest of the top teams followed, except for Mercedes.

'Need to adjust the set-up'

Toto Wolff also sees that the third free practice did not go great. Speaking to the German branch of Sky Sports, he says: "Our tires didn't work at all [in FP3]. We took the Inter off after the whole session - it's new! We can use it again. Not even scratched the surface. That means, we just don't have the temperature and need to work on our set-up."
