With 130 races for Red Bull Racing, Max Verstappen is the driver with the most races for the Austrian team after the French Grand Prix. The number doesn't do much for Verstappen, but loyalty is important in F1 according to him.
After 23 GP weekends for Toro Rosso, Verstappen made the switch to Red Bull Racing in 2016 and the rest in history. The Dutchman has since won 26 races and last year also one world title. More races are planned with the team, as Verstappen signed on until 2028, so the number of races could just double.
Verstappen cares little about the number of races he has done for Red Bull, but he does recognise the importance of loyalty in this sport. ''For me it (loyalty) definitely works. I feel super good in this team, loyalty is an important part of that cooperation. You are in a very familiar environment where you can really work well together'', Verstappen said prior to the French GP according to the AD.
Loyalty is not always a weapon in Formula 1. It works out better for some than for others, who may need to look elsewhere. Verstappen, however, has never had that feeling. ''I've always had the feeling that it was the right move for me to stay here'', said the reigning world champion.
By taking over Mark Webber's record of 129 races for Red Bull, Verstappen is taking a leaf out of the book of two drivers who hold the record for the number of world titles. Lewis Hamilton, after years of loyal service with McLaren (and one world title), won six of his seven world titles with Mercedes and will drive his 190th GP for that team this weekend. Michael Schumacher won five of his seven world titles with Ferrari, for whom he drove 180 races.
Max and his father irritated both Toto and Binotto already. There are certain principled values that top teams like Merc and Ferrari identify with in stark contrast to the behavior of Team Max and some of his hooligan uncultured Dutch fans.
Toto and Binotto don't win races, Max does. furthermore Toto and Binotto are also just employers, nothing more, nothing less
Actually Toto is the owner and co-founder of Mercedes F1. If there is something you need to know abour Italians is that it's all about Ferrari and not the drivers. If anything, there are plenty of drivers who can win championships without the need to resort to dirty driving or Masi's help.
still have to win the races and talking about dirty, I haven't got time to enlist all the dirty tricks Mercedes and Ferrari played but if you don't recognize them, you're probably so biased that you don't want to see that
Max is a commodity in the F1 Paddock. He has the same power of influence as Hamilton. He does it via his tenacity in wanting to win GPs...Hamilton influences social change through F1...so that is the difference between them. Hamiltons age and salary are deterring factors which will see him end his career at Mercedes because no one else can afford him
"He has the same power of influence as Hamilton." I wouldn't bet on that. Hamilton has more influence in the sport than Max does. Trust me on that. All the drivers in the top teams want to win GP's, Max is not special in that. Hamilton was going to end his career at Mercedes anyway, regardless of the salary. But the same applies to Max. He will never leave Red Bull because he gets so much favouritism there. But most teams can't afford him either.
Lewis's influence extends to social and political issues. The push for diversity is an important initiative. I am not belittling what Lewis has done. I'm just saying that Max has more pull when it comes to the actual racing. Lewis also pushes his own 'brand' as such as well, which is not a bad thing as he is coming to the end of a very successful career. Younger drivers like Max, Lando, Charles and even Mick...they're all strong ambassadors for the actual F1 racing...Lewis is as well but his focus has shifted over recent years...again not a bad thing.
" I'm just saying that Max has more pull when it comes to the actual racing. " From what do you base this on?
Trust you on that?? Hamilton has the same level of influence as you do on this blog
and you know this because you are???? push the button, your diaper is soaking!!
Do you not realise that you have to respond to comments like these because people like you make these kind of comments towards those who don't support Max. So you end up in this troll tit-for-tat exchange on every article. Clearly you're happy with this constant bickering scenario day in, day out.
You're the same 44 -7 =0 xLego..............day in, day out.....
So what are you talking about capable of discussing F1....All you do is attack all the Max fans to protect #44 and talk a load of sh!t!!!
You're not important either. Plans? Why do you need plans? I guess I have some importance after all. I'm clearly important enough for you to focus on. Are you even capable of discussing F1? That is what this blog is about after all.
You're not important!...........I Only Make Plans With You Last Minute!..........
Yes 10 days. I have a life and don't need to be here every day with people like you. I choose when to come here and when not to. Deal with it. You're 'I pity you' statement is there because I said it. So it's a false superficial sentiment that's there for no particular reason. You'll see me when I decide you'll see me. Nice to see you had no real comeback on this one and just wrote something because you felt you had to.
10 days later!!! Go back to your bedroom and sleep it off! See in another 10 days .....I pity you...
I'm a volunteer troll to the trolls. It's not that it's natually in my personality like it is yours and other people's. Why not spend your time actually writing something worthwhile and of substance instead of trying to play around with a nickname as if you think it's going to upset me. Put your time to better use. Unless this is your actual level in which case I pity you.
I commented you that the Lewis lot is our example but apparently gp blog finds everything that isn't kissing Lewis's buthwhole offending and therefore forbidden
