For Pierre Gasly, the previous race, the Chinese Grand Prix, was not all it could be. The Frenchman from Alpine was disqualified after the race because his car was below the minimum weight.

Alpine investigated the cause of the problem in China. One of the conclusions was that Gasly's car lost a total of 2.5 kilograms of rubber from the tires during his second and final stint of 46 laps. However, this is a fact and not directly the cause that Gasly's car no longer complied with the regulations.

Pirelli emphasizes that there is always wear

Pirelli confirms to GPblog that the data is accurate, but notes that tire wear has always existed and is always taken into account by all teams with good calculations. Moreover, fourteen drivers also made only one stop during the race in China. The other cars did not have a problem adhering to the technical guidelines.

Pirelli also states that there was no abnormal tire wear on Gasly's car. This also applies to Charles Leclerc, who like Gasly was disqualified after the race. The Ferrari driver's SF-25 was also found to be under the minimum weight after the race.
