Alonso to UNDERACHIEVE?!? Quick-fire 2022 F1 predictions
Today I’ve got some quick fire predictions for you, the weird, the whacky the wonderful, we are going to predict it in about the time it takes to do one lap behind the safety car.
Under achiever - Fernando Alonso
Fernando Alonso has enjoyed a stellar career but this year could be one too many, he’s a class act don’t get me wrong but he’s got a teammate who’s improving with each season and the Spaniard isn’t getting any younger. However, don’t be surprised if I am horribly wrong, Fernando tends to prove me wrong.
Over achiever - Williams
Williams are back! Well they never really went anywhere but they are always improving and with Nicholas Latifi they have a settled driver. Alex Albon will bring plenty of experience and information so I am backing Williams for a better year than expected.
Best race - Brazilian Grand Prix
The Brazilian Grand Prix was a thriller in 2021 and I reckon we are in for more of the same this season. Another sprint race only spices it up even more, and with the new cars it’s going to be a block buster. Get it in your diaries November 13th 2022.
Worst race - French Grand Prix
Paul Ricard had its fun last year but surely it can’t produce two brilliant races back to back? That’s not a question the French GP will be a snooze fest, on the up side it is in the final year of its current contract. Time for change?
Biggest surprise - Guanyu Zhou
Now I don’t think Guanyu Zhou will be overly impressive and well I don’t even think he’ll beat Valtteri Bottas, but people have written him off already so I think he might just surprise some of you with some eye catching overtakes and some solid performances.
Most overtakes - Sebastian Vettel
Sebastian Vettel was in contention for this title last year and I’m backing him to be the overtake king in 2022. Aston Martin will be around the midfield which is key for stat padding the overtakes so this was an easy call for me.
Most DNFs - Kevin Magnussen
As soon as I heard he was coming back, I put this in writing. K-Mag is back and along with some dodgy reliability from the Haas car he’s topping the DNF charts. It was really a toss up between him and Schumacher.
