Carlos Sainz was disappointed after the qualifying of the Dutch Grand Prix. The Spaniard came close to pole position in Zandvoort, but saw Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc finish ahead of him. Therefore, he must try to finish on the podium from P3 on Sunday.

This season Ferrari has been known to set very good qualifying records, but on Saturday afternoon Verstappen pulled out the stops. The Dutchman was only two hundredths of a second faster than Leclerc in Q3, but it was enough for pole position.

Sainz was a bit further away. With nine hundredths of a second he could almost smell pole. Afterwards the realisation hit Sainz hard, but speaking to various media outlets the Spanish driver revealed that he is hopeful.

"When I go back into the room I am sure I can find out where the 9 hundredths are," he told Sky Sports. "I will be hitting my head against the PC, but it is what it is. Max deserves it. He probably did the best lap of Q3 and he has been stronger across the whole quali."

Sainz wants to find solution soon

Speaking to Viaplay, Sainz says he will analyse the last two days. "We looked good yesterday," he states. "We have to see how much the car has changed from Friday to today, because we are making a lot of changes to try to keep improving the performance."
