Nyck de Vries did not joke that he could not raise his arms above his cockpit. The Dutchman was completely worn out and had to be helped out of his cockpit.
De Vries is completely broken
De Vries had a great F1 debut at the Italian Grand Prix. The Dutchman started from the top ten on behalf of Williams after ending up in Q2 during qualifying and receiving grid penalties from several drivers ahead of him. In the race, he fought hard in his FW44 to hold that spot, but at the cost of his arms.
A video from his car shows De Vries being helped out of the car by mechanics. He tries to do it himself, but he is completely stuck. Before his mechanics come to help him, Pierre Gasly stops by to congratulate De Vries on his great result.
