Lewis Hamilton continues his fight back in the championship and comes away fastest from FP3 with a 1.16.826.
Max Verstappen came in second with
Valtteri Bottas third ahead of what is set to be a tight qualifying session later on this afternoon.
Mick Schumacher caused a red flag after losing control of his Haas in the second half of the session. Fortunately, he was ok but it seems unlikely that the car will be ready for qualifying and there is a high probability that there is gearbox damage.
Apart from this there was little drama to report but once again
Daniel Ricciardo seemed unable to get his
McLaren working underneath him.
He will need a good qualifying and race tomorrow to stop the questions and doubt from the media and fans about why he is so much slower than his teammate
Lando Norris who finished the session P6.
Ferrari had another strong session with
Charles Leclerc and
Carlos Sainz both running well. Leclerc finished P5 with Sainz coming in an impressive P4.
After the damage from Schumacher’s crash, the drivers came out for a final run on the soft tyre to run their qualifying simulations.
Antonio Giovinazzi and
Lance Stroll collided in the pits. The Alfa Romeo was sent out and his front wing clipped the rear tyre of the Aston Martin. Both continued on their way but expect to see a punishment for the Italian team.
The top three were all within a tenth, setting up this afternoon’s qualifying nicely.
