Gianpiero Lambiase

Gianpiero Lambiase has an impressive resume as an engineer in Formula 1. The Brit made his debut in the series in 2005 with Jordan. Since 2015, he has been part of the Red Bull Racing family, initially as Daniil Kvyat’s engineer. When the Russian was replaced by Max Verstappen, Lambiase began working with the Dutch driver. In 2021, he helped Verstappen secure his first World Championship. Now, in 2025, the two remain successful, with Verstappen already having four World Titles.

Years with Jordan

Lambiase started his F1 career in 2005 with Jordan. In 2008, he helped Giancarlo Fisichella to pole position and a podium finish at the Belgian Grand Prix. Lambiase also worked with Paul di Resta at the team for three years.
Sergio Perez, Verstappen’s current teammate, is also familiar with Lambiase. The Mexican replaced Di Resta at Jordan in 2014, and Lambiase became Perez’s engineer. However, this partnership lasted only one season, as Lambiase moved to Red Bull the following year.

Success with Verstappen and Red Bull

At Red Bull, Lambiase became the engineer for Daniil Kvyat. In his first season with the team, Lambiase helped the Russian secure his first podium with Red Bull. In 2016, Lambiase remained Kvyat’s engineer, but after disappointing results, the Russian was replaced by Verstappen. Lambiase kept his role as engineer, marking the start of a highly successful collaboration with Verstappen. The Dutchman immediately won his first race for Red Bull at the much-discussed 2016 Spanish Grand Prix.
Verstappen has often praised Lambiase’s qualities. The Brit is known for his direct and calm communication over the radio with the Dutchman. However, during the 2024 season, Verstappen and Lambiase occasionally had a more tense relationship. In 2021, Verstappen won his first World Championship with Red Bull and Lambiase. The following year, Lambiase took over the role of Head of Race Engineering from Guillaume Rocquelin, but he continued to work as Verstappen’s race engineer. The two remain a golden duo, with Verstappen already securing his fourth World Championship at Red Bull Racing.

Lambiase’s Promotion at Red Bull Racing

During the 2024 Formula 1 season, Lambiase received a promotion within the Red Bull team, shortly after his contract was extended. Lambiase was promoted as part of a restructuring within the Austrian team, but he continued his active role as Verstappen’s race engineer.

Lambiase and Verstappen’s Radio Communications

Throughout the 2024 season, Lambiase’s patience was tested significantly by Verstappen. The Dutchman became quite irritable on the radio during the season. The first six races for Red Bull Racing went well, but after that, the Austrian team was increasingly caught up by the likes of McLaren and Ferrari. This led to a more frustrated Verstappen over the radio, but Lambiase consistently tried to calm him down.

Lambiase’s Salary and Net Worth

Exact figures regarding Lambiase’s salary and net worth are not publicly available. Estimates suggest that his annual salary is around £120,000, although these figures may vary. His total wealth is unknown, but given his long and successful career in Formula 1, it’s likely that he has accumulated significant wealth.
