Nyck de Vries has commented for the first time on his departure from AlphaTauri. The Dutchman is disappointed about his early exit, but is still grateful to have been given the chance in Formula 1.
"A short note from me… After recent events, I decided to take some time for myself away from social media, which I will continue to do," he began. "I would like to thank Red Bull and Scuderia AlphaTauri for the opportunity to live my dream. Of course it hurts that the F1 chance I dreamed of for so long ended prematurely. But life is not a destination, it’s a journey, and sometimes you have to take the hard road to get where you want to be."
He continued: "I am grateful for our privileged lives, proud of our journey and my family. This is just another experience, we move on and look forward to the next chapter. Thank you to everyone for your kind and encouraging messages in the past week. It’s been heart-warming to feel your support"
Very mature and he can be proud. I'm sure he will make be a bigger success than he already is.
I would like to retract the statement that I am glad he was kicked out. I'm glad his alleged statements were false. Nice of him to say thank you for the opportunity.
I'm completely with you ? Yesterday, GP today published an article stating (among other stuff); Nyck de Vries claims Max Verstappen ‘stole the title from Lewis Hamilton’ While DEV posted; "PS: I received some interesting articles about things I’ve said in the last week. For clarity, I haven’t spoken to any media" Looks like GP Today tried to get clicks in a pretty abominable way. Reason enough to boycott them. I did say he would only have kind words for RB and AT, he is not the type to say anything else. Wishing well DV hopefully you have seat soon.
He seems quiet and a sincere person. Good that he has not said anything stupid. Good luck DV.
More like he doesn't want to burn any bridges. This is a measured, smart response. I'm not sure it's what he really feels though.
He might actually be able to compare himself with people that got less. Everything is relative.
