It is still unclear who will get the second Red Bull seat next year. It's likely to be between Nico Hulkenberg, Sergio Perez and Alex Albon. Helmut Marko and Hulkenberg have given a short update themselves after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
"Nico is a candidate," says Marko at Motorsport-Total.com, among others. Earlier, the Austrian adviser indicated that a decision will be made before Christmas.

Hulkenberg speaks for himself

Hulkenberg says he cannot report any news to the German branch of RTL. About the current state of affairs, he says. "It is difficult to assess the situation. Perez has done very well in the last race," said the German driver.
Hulkenberg further states that he waits patiently and that he is relaxed and realistic about it. The former driver of Force India and Renault, among others, concludes by saying he expects a quick decision from the Red Bull management.

His track record over the past 10 years of having started in 179 races and still has an empty trophy cupboard at home, means his days as a full time F1 driver is well and truely over. There are so many young talents coming through from F2 and young current F1 drivers who can win or get on the podium in their first couple of years in the sport, why would a team want to hire him? Furthermore, he won’t come cheap either.

He can leave the phone indoor when going out, no worry, Marko will not even call for a chat. He had more chances than most, blew them all, and the German press expected him to shine when wight was taken out of equation, well, it didnt. Again German press thought he did fantastic in his old team, in a 2019 mercedes car, which even Stroll can handle well, come on. He was ousted with OCO replacing him for a reason.
