Charles Leclerc is not exactly having his best season in Formula 1. The Ferrari is not good enough to compete for championships, and good weekends are interspersed with not so good weekends. Leclerc is positive despite everything.
Last year, Ferrari started strongly: out of the first three races, Leclerc won two, and with a lead of more than 40 points over Verstappen, it looked like the Monegasque had a good chance of winning the world title. However, Verstappen and Red Bull recovered, and Ferrari was often hopeless in races for the rest of the year, partly due to the Scuderia's poor strategic choices. Leclerc finished the season second in the championship.
This year is going even worse for Ferrari. Whereas last year the car itself was competitive, now it is often not. The field is close together, and if Ferrari has a good weekend, it could be completely different the following weekend. This weekend it is going to rain, which could yet provide another surprise.
"Honestly, I think we've been quite good whenever it was full wet or full dry, or at least we were maximising our package. I struggled personally a bit more in the half wet, half dry conditions, but we put quite a bit of work into it, so I'm confident that if we find ourselves in those situations again, I'll be back at the level I want to be."
