Bad news for Formula 2 driver Richard Verschoor. The FIA has just announced that the Van Amersfoort Racing driver has been disqualified. Verschoor grabbed a handsome second place in the sprint race at Spa-Francorchamps on Saturday, but this result has thus been dropped for not complying with the technical guidelines.

The FIA announced on Saturday evening several hours after the race that Verschoor had been disqualified. The Van Amersfoort Racing car did not comply with all regulations in the technical inspection after the race, leaving the FIA with no option but to remove Verschoor from the results. The throttle mapping on his car did not comply with FIA guidelines. Verschoor's disqualification moves Theo Pourchaire into second place, with MP Motorsport driver Dennis Hauger taking the last spot on the podium.

Richard Verschoor seemed to be heading for victory in the sprint race at Spa, but he had to let Enzo Fittipaldi pass him two laps before the end. As a result, the Dutchman crossed the line in second place and was on the podium. However, after this decision by the FIA, he can hand over his points and trophy to Theo Pourchaire. The Formula 2 main race starts on Sunday morning at 10.00 am Dutch time.
