Max Verstappen has been with Michael Schumacher on several occasions and in the F1 paddock at the Hungaroring it happened again. Johnny Herbert and Karun Chandhok have a very high opinion of the reigning world champion and see him driving superbly in Formula 1 again in 2022.
"We learn all the way through your career. Max's ability to take the mistakes and throw them away, it's very Michael Schumacher," Herbert noted in a preview of the Hungarian GP weekend on Sky Sports. "Basically saying I want to win the championship as early as I can. A strong mental trait that Max has."
Chandhok thinks his colleague raises a good point. "I think that's a good point about Schumacher. So many things about the way Max goes racing that reminds me of Michael. He's aggressive and ruthless in the way he goes wheel-to-wheel battles. He's supremely self confidence in his own ability, he knows he is one of the stand out drivers of his generation, arguably of all time. Michael had that air about him, he knows he was destined for greatness. There's a lot of similarly there."
Verstappen is not only frequently compared to the great Schumacher, according to several F1-analysts there are also similarities with the qualities that Aytron Senna possessed. Martin Brundle did so not long ago, although Verstappen himself is not a fan of the comparisons.
