Max Verstappen stormed to victory in the 2024 Bahrain Grand Prix. The Dutchman has now won eight races in a row, which is only detached from his previous record-breaking run of 10 consecutive wins by one event. The Red Bull driver has, therefore, won 18 of the last 19 Grands Prix.
Red Bull Racing also secured P2, with Sergio Perez finishing second. The gap between the two teammates sat at 22 seconds, with Carlos Sainz a further three seconds back. Verstappen won the 2023 Bahrain Grand Prix with an 11 second advantage, so the Dutchman has doubled his lead 12 months later. Though of course, that can't be used as a direct measure given the two Grands Prix had many different factors. Third-placed Fernando Alonso finished 38 seconds behind in 2023.
Either way, it's clear Red Bull Racing have another strong car in 2024. The aggressive changes made by Adrian Newey and his team took everyone by surprise. Now, the competitors are demorialised seeing such a big gap to Verstappen. Toto Wolff even said Verstappen was in "another galaxy". Sainz did make some positive remarks about keeping the gap to Perez.
A lot can happen in a 24-race season. It seems inevitable that a safety car, red flag or mechanical issue will trouble Verstappen at some point? But can he really win all 24 Grands Prix? Let us know in the comments and the poll.
