GPblog's weekly liveblog
After a chaotic Canadian Grand Prix, there are plenty of talking points across the Formula 1 paddock. On Saturday, George Russell and Kimi Antonelli battled intensely and made contact for the first time during the Sprint. The Mercedes teammates clashed again on Sunday before their fight was abruptly ended when Russell’s car stopped on Lap 31. As a result, Antonelli current leads the
drivers' standings by 43 points.
Max Verstappen’s future is also a major talking point. After qualifying in Montreal, he admitted he could eventually reconsider his future if Formula 1 continues down its current path under the 2026 regulations, with proposed changes for next year still uncertain. The reigning world champion described the current situation as mentally exhausting from a driver’s perspective, warning that enduring another full season under the same conditions would be difficult for him. Moreover, Red Bull Racing would also like clarity on the Dutchman’s future
in the short term. Follow this week's liveblog to stay up to date with the latest news
