Is Hamilton leaving F1? "Of course he will be disappointed"
- GPblog.com
In recent days a story has been circulating that suggests Lewis Hamilton might quit Formula 1 after his loss in Abu Dhabi. However, David Coulthard does not believe that the Briton will retire any time soon.
During the BBC Radio 5 broadcast, Coulthard talks about the rumours going around. "There is no doubt about Hamilton's commitment. He has shown why he is a seven-time world champion. He is a phenomenon and an incredible athlete."
"He is committed to his team and he will do everything he can next year to win his eighth world title", the former F1 driver stresses. Hamilton has already re-signed with Mercedes for a further two years. The Briton was present at the Mercedes factory this week to celebrate the constructors' championship and say goodbye to teammate Valtteri Bottas.
'Hamilton has overcome more setbacks'
Toto Wolff revealed a few days ago that he is not sure if Hamilton will be back on the grid next year. The Briton did not attend the FIA gala on Wednesday and remains conspicuously silent on social media. He has also unfollowed the official Formula 1 Instagram account.
"Of course he will be disappointed. He is a great driver, he has won several world championships and he has overcome many setbacks in his career", Coulthard said.
