Gasly expects developments: 'Could be different'
- GPblog.com
Pierre Gasly has had an excellent season at AlphaTauri. The Frenchman did significantly better than his teammate Yuki Tsunoda and could be satisfied with a ninth place in the world championship. For next season, however, he expects big changes.
The new regulations mean that teams can hardly build on past performance, giving smaller teams a chance to surprise in 2022. AlphaTauri just had an excellent year, so the coming season could end like a fuse for the team. Despite this, Gasly remains confident.
"I know next year could be very different," he told realistically in conversation with Crash.net. "It could be same, could be better, could be worse. But at the end of the day, I’m just happy to have seen the team performing in that way, because it gives hope for next year."
Gasly hopes for new chance at Red Bull
Behind the scenes, Gasly is still doing his best for a new chance at Red Bull Racing. The French driver has raced in a team with Max Verstappen before, but at the time he was not good enough. Should the performance of Sergio Perez, who once again has a seat at the Austrian racing stable in 2022, fall short, Gasly's return is a possibility.
