'Mercedes and FIA to sit down together on Friday'

Toto Wolff has an important meeting with FIA boss Mohammed Ben Sulayem on Friday, the Daily Mail reports. On the agenda would be the 2021 season finale, in which Lewis Hamilton felt that the race control penalized him.
The Briton was leading for quite a while at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and looked set to grab his eighth world title, until Nicholas Latifi drove hard into the wall. A safety car followed, giving Max Verstappen the chance to change his tires. When the stewards also decided to call the safety car in a lap early and Verstappen caught up with him, he could no longer suppress his anger.
Hamilton had not heard from him since mid-December. The seven-time world champion is reportedly unsure whether he wants to continue racing, now that he no longer trusts the decisions of the management. However, Mercedes and Formula 1 are said to be hoping for a good outcome behind the scenes, which is why Wolff wants to take action.
Mercedes would demand changes at the FIA
The German racing stable's commitment would be to make sweeping changes within Formula 1. In addition, Mercedes is said to be demanding that the FIA dismiss Michael Masi as race director, although the team strongly denies this. The next few weeks will show what the future of Hamilton will look like.
