'Mercedes not looking for successor to 'departing' Hamilton'
- GPblog.com
There is still uncertainty about the future of Lewis Hamilton. The Briton has not yet made it known whether he will continue in Formula 1, but according to Germany's Bild, it is less exciting than the team makes it seem.
Disappointed Hamilton
After the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, little has been heard from Hamilton. The seven-time world champion is disappointed after missing out on his eighth world title, but according to several sources is actually considering quitting Formula 1. However, this seems to be more of a means to put pressure on the FIA.
When Mercedes was going to protest against the result of the last GP, it withdrew this protest under the condition that the FIA would investigate the course of this race and ensure that this could not happen again in the future. There are some things going on in the background, but the FIA has not made any major moves yet.
Mercedes is not looking for a successor
This week it emerged that Hamilton still has not decided whether he will still be active in F1 in 2022. He is mainly waiting for action from the FIA, which has not yet materialized. However, this seems more a means to put pressure on the FIA than that the Briton is actually considering quitting.
Although rumors about possible successors abound, the German Bild Bild reports that Mercedes is not looking for a successor for the star driver. If Hamilton was really considering quitting F1, you would expect Mercedes to have at least thrown out a few lines. However, this is not the case.
