Bottas: "The decisions I made personally are just purely what I wanted"

Valtteri Bottas says goodbye to Mercedes in 2022 and starts a new adventure at Alfa Romeo. The Finn reveals that he thought more selfishly when choosing Alfa Romeo and that it was purely what he wanted.
Selfish choice
Bottas mainly played second fiddle to Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes. While the Briton ran off with multiple world titles, Bottas had to make do with ten wins in five years. Mercedes has chosen to put George Russell in the car in 2022.
Bottas had to look for a new team in Formula 1 and ended up with Alfa Romeo. He reveals that he started thinking a little more selfishly, in order to arrive at a destination that can make him truly happy. "The decisions I made personally are just purely what I wanted, nothing else," says the Finn according to The Race.
New role for Bottas
At Alfa Romeo, Bottas will take on the role of first driver after Kimi Raikkonen retires. The Finn will have the important task of bringing the team back to the midfield after several disappointing seasons. In addition, he will help Guanyu Zhou in his first Formula One season.
